The UNC Charlotte “Pride of Niner Nation” Marching Band (PNNMB) is the largest and most visible spirit organization on campus, representing a wide variety of majors from each college within the university. The band entertains thousands of fans each year at football games, community performances, and regional high school marching band festivals. The band’s unique style combines exciting arrangements from diverse musical genres with traditional and contemporary drill designs.

  • PNNMB is open to all UNC Charlotte students. Experience performing on a standard band instrument or spinning a flag is required.
  • Students must enroll in MUPF 1118 and will receive one academic credit for participation.
  • PNNMB rehearses Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:15–6:15 p.m. and performs at all Charlotte 49ers home football games, home basketball games and events.
  • Preseason Band Camp takes place approximately two weeks before the fall academic semester begins.

Prospective members of the featured twirlers and drumline are required to perform an audition, as there are limited numbers of spots available in these sections. Audition information is available below. Students who do not successfully audition for the feature twirler or drumline, but who also play a wind instrument are encouraged to join PNNMB’s wind section.
