- specialists in contact improvisation, African-Brazilian dance, Odissi Classical Indian dance, and site-specific choreography
- a former American Ballet Theatre dancer
- the co-editor of Moving History/ Dancing Cultures: A Dance History Reader
- A National Dance Education Organization Lifetime Achievement Awardee
- a music-for-dance specialist who has worked with Judith Jamison, Bill T Jones, Mark Morris, and Alonzo King (Lines Ballet)
- a Registered Somatic Dance Educator

- traveled to South Carolina to study traditional ring shouts
- trained in intensives at the Martha Graham and Paul Taylor Dance Companies
- presented at the regional American College Dance Association conference
- served as Charlotte Research Scholars
- received scholarships to attend the American Dance Festival
- been accepted to graduate programs at Duke University, Hollins University, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London)
