How did you become interested in architecture?
I became interested in architecture as a child reading books about different famous structures across the globe. My great-grandmother gave me a book on how to draw 50 iconic buildings, and I started practicing creating buildings of my own imagination. After that, I just always knew that architecture was what I wanted to. I wanted to be able to create something that will long outlast me and create a space for people to work, or live, or enjoy.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
While at the moment I’m still trying to figure out how far I want to go, I hope to be an architect who helps create more environmentally sustainable projects in an advancing world. I always want to help revitalize the use of vernacular and cultural styles of design and construction and give representation to often overlooked cultures.
What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the School of Architecture?
My favorite thing about the College of Arts + Architecture is the community of faculty, staff, and students who are so different with cool unique perspectives and are so supportive.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not in class, studying, or working I enjoy listening to audiobooks, creating maps, and writing stories. I think my love of designing spaces has lead me to also love designing new worlds and characters that can form stories of their own. I also love playing with my two dogs at home.
