Voice Professor Joins Opera Carolina Cast
Assistant Professor of Voice Sequina DuBose, lyric soprano, will sing the role of Donna Elvira in Opera Carolina’s upcoming production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Performances will take place February 3, 5, and 6 at the Belk Theater in the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. It is DuBose’s debut in the virtuosic role of Giovanni’s spurned lover.
Dr. DuBose, who co-directs the Musical Theatre Certificate program, is a versatile artist and maintains a successful stage career in concert, opera, and musical theatre productions. In 2021, she was the soprano soloist with the Tulsa Symphony, Wynton Marsalis, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the BOK Center in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Riots. Additional distinctive engagements include performances as a soloist and ensemble member in Underground Railroad: A Spiritual Journey, a concert series that culminated in a performance at the Metropolitan Opera with international opera icon Kathleen Battle; a debut with Michigan Opera Theater as 4th Maidservant in Strauss’ Elektra
