Here, find helpful information from your CoA+A Business Team regarding different business processes such as travel, purchasing, and hiring. Please use the Google forms below to initiate support from the Business Team and your Office Manager. When filling out the forms, please be aware of the following submission dates. Submissions outside of these timelines will not be accommodated without a memo/email from the Chair or Director approving the exception.
- Travel: 3 weeks prior to departure
- Field Trips: 10 weeks prior to departure
- Hiring students and non-students: 6 weeks prior to the start date if they have never worked on campus in a previous role. If they are returning/continuing, 4 weeks prior to the start date to ensure timely processing and payroll deadlines.
- Contracted agreements/service providers/guests: 7 weeks prior to the event or service

Faculty & Staff Support Resources
There are many individuals, offices, and procedures that you can reach out to for resources and support. UNC Charlotte’s Office of Human Resources offers information about benefit options, training opportunities, personnel policies/ procedures, and grievance procedures.
Consider sharing your need for support and resources or grievance procedures with the relevant unit head (chair or director). For the College of Arts + Architecture, you can contact Gretchen Alterowitz (Dance), Blaine Brownell (Architecture), Delia Neil (Theatre), Angela Rajagopalan (Art & Art History), Joe Skillen (Music), and Mary Welsh (CoA+A Dean’s Office).
Office of Civil Rights & Title IX: You can report incidents of sexual and interpersonal misconduct, as well as incidents of discrimination and harassment to this office. This office takes active measures to create or restore a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for community members that is free from discrimination, discriminatory harassment, and sexual or interpersonal violence.
Ombuds: The Ombuds program is a confidential, impartial, independent, and informal resource for faculty and staff to informally work through challenging workplace problems, dilemmas, and conflicts. They use coaching, facilitated discussions, and shuttle diplomacy to help prevent problems from escalating. Discussions are confidential with exceptions for imminent risks of serious harm.
Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success: The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success (CAFS) promotes faculty success through research and programming on retirement, re-appointment, promotion, and tenure practices; policy reform; mentoring; leadership and career development. CAFS offers training in hiring practices, leadership, reappointment workshops, mentoring, and writing groups.
